2003 - A Year of Highs and Lows
The past year has been one of highs and
lows for the entire U.S. as well as for our family and farm. We entered
the year with Steve deploying to the Middle East with the NC Air National
Guard. While we were thankful when Steve returned safely at the end of
the summer, we faced the illness and death of Steve's father.
Megan has been in an international baccalaureate program and is receiving
15 college credits in her Junior year in high school; We are very proud of
her academic accomplishments even though she has had to cut back on her
alpaca time this year. We are closing out the year with my (Erin's) departure from the corporate world
to join the ranks of the full time alpaca farmers of America! Five
years ago, I set a goal to leave corporate world in seven years. I
am so thrilled to report that Steve has been a full time alpaca farmer
(and NC Air Force Guardsman) for 2 years and I have been a full time
alpaca farmer since December 5th, 2003 - two full years ahead of my goal!
2004 - A Year of Great
Anticipation
In all our years in the alpaca industry, we
have never felt the pure excitement that is in the air as we enter 2004.
During 2003, I have had the honor of serving on the AOBA board of
directors and as the chairperson of the AOBA national marketing
committee. Over the past several year, the industry has experienced phenomenal growth, and I feel like this year will be AOBA's turning point
from being a small group of creative, independent, visionary entrepreneurs
to becoming a true agricultural industry. It is a very exciting time
to be part of this great industry and wonderful community of people and
amazing animals.

Travel Schedule ~ Winter 2004

January 16, 17, & 18 - Las Vegas, NV
January 19-January 22 ~ Park City, Utah
After seven years of work running a full time career, a full time
alpaca farm, and a full time household, I can finally take a tiny
breather. Rather than rushing back to work after the auction, I am
going to spend 3 days at the Sundance Film Festival with my little sister,
Amanda, and my best friend, Colette, to see the short film directed
by Colette and enjoy my newfound freedom from corporate structure. I think this is the alpaca
lifestyle full of great travel that I have been whole-heartedly marketing
all these years :o)

Featured Alpacas
Mother/Daughter Pair
White Star and MFI Ginger are a
great pair offered at $23,500 for the pair ($13,000 for Ginger). This
is a great chance to get some top bloodlines at a nice price. Ginger
is a world class future production girl with amazing coverage. She
will do great things for some lucky farm one day. She has inherited
some great looks from her award winning sire, MFI Peruvian Logan and
grandsire Accoyo Augusto. Match her up with one of the young boys on
the left for a great cria - Journey would be a great choice - the cria's
pedigree would include Journey, Logan, Augusto, Millenium, Legacy, Mr.
President, and
Hemingway!
